Why should education change: in Midas of 5G, IoT, and AI?
This is to the crazy ones’ who have kids or have kids in their ecosystem. This piece of the article contains some of the most invaluable thoughts, frameworks, and actions.
This article covers the current evolution of technology, geoeconomics, and geopolitics. Dive into how
- What is the current status of the world?
- How is technology shaping the current geoeconomics and geopolitics?
- What can you do as leaders of the future?
- Reflective thought: Mushrooming in the Midas of this change?
The current status of the world: people are protesting. China is assertive and the US is coming to terms with, as a result, the trade war is ‘ON’. Immigration policies are having a big toll on the developing world. Old normal, West Asia is in conflict with itself. And all this has serious implications on the world trade and currencies in particular. All these macrocosms are having serious implications on our microcosms, particularly on education.
People today in both developed and developing world have serious trust issues with the governments and stakeholders. And the implications have been a rise in trust deficit and the economy slow.
All this has an impact on digital infrastructure. Why talk about digital infrastructure? When you should be talking about democracy and the rule-based world in the current confusion or precisely disinformation.
Much like a baby, you need your mother’s milk for initial years to make your immune system strong. Likewise, technological advancement needs constant and continuous improvement in its infrastructure.
And here, the catch, we are increasingly seeing as nations fail, people come to street starting from Edward Snowden awakening, Arab Spring, Venezuela, India, Hong Kong, USA, and Europe.
As a consequence, nations are not able to roll out digital infrastructure with which china has rolled out. And the fall has been on the states which are democratic. And governments or aka regime which are totalitarian are winning big time. Why are they winning big time? ((it’s an hour-long video))
Let me clearly state my position, that I am all for democracy. But in the Midas of the tension, we need to reflect on the way our digital infrastructure is being shaped, which is very crucial for discussion.
Perhaps this discussion, we all can be part of in: What can you do as leaders of the future? But before we hop on to that question what we need to understand how is technology shaping the current geoeconomics and geopolitics.
Wait…..Before we move…..to how is technology is shaping the current geoeconomics and geopolitics?
“Clarity breeds mastery”
We need to understand why does it really matter to understand the technology and the origins of the current nature of the technology and behavior of the stakeholders. A deeper understanding will help us gauge the effects that these revolutions had on our education.
Perhaps also help you see around the corners, and give you a broader perspective on how we should prepare ourselves and our new generation in the face of irreversible change.
We all agree that technological change is irreversible. Starting from the first technological revolution to one-fourth the industrial revolution. However, the nature of technological change is unprecedented. For instance, Insecticides increased agricultural yields but turned out to grow in food chains and consequently threatened wildlife. Chlorofluorocarbons made refrigerators much safer but turned out to exhaust the ozone layer that protects life from solar UV radiation. Cars did not just replace horses and carriages but created new freedom of movement. One of the many effects was the new freedom to commute. And the unintended consequences of the new freedom have dramatically altered cities and sadly also our nearby countryside.
And coupled with these changes, the emergence of the fourth technological revolution on the back of AI, quantum computing, IoT and nanotechnology. All these changes have dramatically changed the fabric of society, and what I mean the paradigm of society, the way we operate. Its effects can be seen when countries on one had will create policies on the lines of Singapore and China on the other. But this kind of change will happen after two to three election cycles((let's keep our fingers crossed)). With these changes policies that effectively push the human race forward will emerge, and sprouting of these have started to take place at the micro-level, ‘me-too movement'.
How is technology shaping the current geoeconomics and geopolitics?
Well, it is changing big time, even while I am writing now, or when you read this article.
Well, the question is not just limited to How is technology shaping the current geoeconomics and geopolitics? But it extends to how stakeholders and in particular governments are shaping the current geoeconomics and geopolitics.
‘5G’ networks is what governments should be talking about. Before we move further. We need to know the impact of 5G through analogies….
